Empire House launches The Social Reader

We are pleased to announce that we have launched our very own book club, The Social Reader.

Aimed at professional women, the group will be held on the first Thursday of every month in Empire House’s orangery space, and is being hosted by Teb Moema.

With the aim of bringing together a group of vibrant, sociable women, the idea for Social Reader was formed when Empire House founder Amy Byram, and member Teb, were both struggling to find a book club to join that didn’t feel too stuffy, awkward, or ‘clicky’.

Amy commented: “As the name suggests, the book club will be very lighthearted in nature – some people may read that month’s book from cover to cover, whilst others may just read the synopsis and come along for a glass of something cold and to have a chat. We want to create a small community of women who love socialising and want to meet new people – particularly after the last 18 months.”

Social Reader is being sponsored by LoveReading UK.

Each month, the book will be themed around women, whether it’s a strong female lead, an empowering entrepreneur or an author. Launching on Thursday 4th November, the first book will be The Widow Clicquot – the story of how a widow built the Veuve Clicquot empire.

Membership is £10 per month which includes a glass of wine or beer and nibbles. Join here, follow us on social media and enter our competition to win a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
